Aldi: Chic Lenovo Convertible For Only 699 Euros

The stylish Lenovo Ideapad C340 convertible notebook is available from Aldi with a whopping discount of almost 20 percent for only 699 euros. Thanks to the dedicated Nvidia graphics card, the Aldi laptop is also suitable for casual gamers.

Aldi will sell the convertible from July 1, 2021, Lenovo Ideapad C340 only online on the Aldi Süd and Aldi Nord websites. With the notebook, you can rotate the 14-inch multi-touch display with full HD resolution by 360 degrees so that the laptop can also be used as a tablet. In addition, thanks to the low weight of only 1650 grams and the 45 Wh battery with a runtime of up to 10.5 hours, the IdeaPad offers high mobility.

The four-core processor Intel Core i5-10210U can process up to eight tasks (threads) at the same time and runs with a base or turbo clock of 1.6 and 4.2 GHz. The Nvidia Geforce MX230 graphics card comes with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory and only offers fluid frame rates of more than 60 frames / s in full HD resolution for less demanding games such as CS Go Fifa or Rocket League.

In the case of graphically complex titles, on the other hand, you usually have to reduce the resolution and the level of detail significantly in order to get over 30 FPS. The convertible is, therefore only suitable for casual gamers.

Additional features include 8 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD, a microSD card reader, a 720p webcam with acceptable image quality, and a WLAN-ac module with Bluetooth 4.2. The special features of the Lenovo Ideapad C340 include the RapidCharge quick charge function (approx. 80% in 1 hour), a fingerprint sensor for convenient log-in, the illuminated keyboard, and a mechanical camera cover.

The convertible offers 2 x USB-A 3.1 Gen1, 1 x USB-C 3.1 Gen1, 1 x HDMI, and a combined 3.5 mm jack socket for a headset. Windows 10 Home is already preinstalled. Aldi grants a 2-year manufacturer’s guarantee on the laptop.

Assessment: At Lenovo, Ideapad C340 from Aldi, is a discontinued model with hardware that is no longer brand new. The bottom line is that the offer is cheap. It offers similar hardware with the slightly faster Core i7-10510U and an SSD that is twice as large as Acer Aspire 3 A315-55G-754D for 799 euros. However, you have to forego all the special features of this Acer laptop, including the convertible function.

The currently cheapest convertible without a dedicated graphics card in a comparable performance class costs with the Acer Spin 3 SP314-54N-51HV also at least 699 euros. If you can do without the graphics card, you should opt for this Acer model, which offers a larger SSD and a little more CPU speed.
